About Our Concussion Clinic

Daniel Hamilton

Director | Physiotherapist | Exercise Physiologist
Daniel is the Managing Director of the Ballarat Concussion Clinic and has qualifications of Masters of Physiotherapy, Masters of Exercise Physiology and a Bachelor of Exercise Science. Daniel has gone on to complete further studies and is an accredited Complete Concussion Physiotherapist and an ImPact certified Physiotherapist.

Pursuit to help others

Daniel has a strong passion for sport, rehabilitation and helping others. Therefore, by starting the very first concussion clinic in Bendigo, and now Ballarat, it has been a long-held ambition to provide a service for concussion rehabilitation in rural Victoria.

With broad private practice experience and working with elite, semi-elite and local sporting teams across a variety of sports including football, basketball and netball, Daniel is proud to introduce the Ballarat Concussion Clinic.

We offer a comprehensive, evidence-based approach tailored to each individual’s needs. Our services include group baseline testing screens, thorough assessments throughout the rehabilitation process and symptom-specific rehabilitation designed to promote recovery and improve overall cognitive and physical function. We’re here to guide you safely back to daily activities such as school, work and/or sports, providing the knowledge and tools needed for a safe and effective recovery.

At Ballarat Concussion Clinic, we understand the complex nature of concussions, and consider this in our comprehensive approach to assess, treat, and manage symptoms to ensure safe and effective recovery. We offer individualised care plans focusing on symptom
management, exercise tolerance, coordination, vestibular ocular dysfunction, neck and whiplash symptoms, whilst educating
patients on safe return-to-activity and/or sport protocols. Whether you’re an athlete, student, or employee we aim to empower you
with the knowledge and tools you need to manage your symptoms and safely return to your daily activities.
Service Information

What we can offer as a Concussion Clinic

Physiotherapists at Ballarat Concussion Clinic have completed further training to be certified in concussion management and treatment. Please see below for what the Ballarat Concussion Clinic currently offers, and does not offer to it’s clients.
What we DO offer
1. A thorough assessment of your concussion symptoms, headache, exercise capacity, balance, coordination, neck and cervical spine dysfunction, dizziness, visual capabilities, vestibular dysfunction, neurocognitive abilities, memory recall, and reaction time.

2. Treatment for the above-mentioned issues using physiotherapy specific techniques such as soft tissue and joint mobilisation, dry needling, exercise prescription, balance and coordination exercises, neurocognitive re-training, cervical spine rehabilitation, visual and vestibular exercises.

3. Comprehensive individual baseline screening tests, completed in clinic or remotely.

4. Treatment and guidance for the management of persistent concussion symptoms (PCS).

5. Return to school, work and sports guidance

6. Sleep hygiene management

7. Lifestyle and pacing strategies
What we DO NOT offer
1. A diagnosis of concussion. This is required from a certified medical practitioner (Doctor) of the client’s choosing prior to attending an initial consultation. A referral can be brought with you to your initial appointment, or it can be sent to admin@ballaratconcussion.com.au.

2. A final return to play clearance. Our clinic will provide rehabilitation until the final hurdle of return to contact training and competition. It is at this stage that a medical professional (Doctor) is required to provide a signed clearance form for the athlete. Our clinic will help guide this process to assist with a smooth return to play.

Initial Consultation
During your initial consultation, an assessment will be conducted, using a range of tools and techniques to accurately plan and individualise your rehabilitation.
1 Hour
Cost: $195.00
Follow up Consultation
Tailored treatment plans, including graded exercise, cognitive exercises, vestibular and ocular re-training, manual therapy and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery.
45 Minutes
Cost: $165.00
Baseline Testing
Pre-season baseline testing to monitor pre-injury cognitive function, coordination and balance to compare and guide post-concussion care.
Team Based - 30 Minutes Total
Cost: $20 per person
